Onions on chocolate ice cream? Playing the piano with your toes? These things most certainly are NOT meant to go together, but I’d bet that a group of kids could collaborate to fix those phrases so that they make sense. And better yet, I bet they could come up with even sillier combinations for a much more interesting song than the one I wrote ;)
Every once in a while, I’ll write a song that serves as a good base but is mostly meant to be adapted. This is definitely one of those songs! I’d absolutely LOVE to hear how you would put Meant To Be Together for use, whether you simplify it for little ones or employ your older students to write brand new verses.
This song can also be used as an introduction to pairs, which is why I deliberately left off the most common items that are “meant to go together” like peanut butter & jelly, salt & pepper, etc. However, you are most certainly welcome to substitute those things into the song. Make it your own!
