Description
A few years ago, one of my readers suggested that the old Donovan song “Colors” would make for a great children’s song with a little adapting. After listening to it, I agreed and went to work.
The song I ended up with was “Colors in the Morning”, which I used as a color identification song in conjunction with some visual aides I created. It was a great addition to my music therapy resources, but more recently I decided to re-record it for use with my groups of young children.
This is a great tune to pair with shakers, streamers, scarves — basically any instrument or movement prop that comes in many different colors. It allows children the opportunity to identify their color and have a moment in the spotlight during the corresponding verse.
