Do you have a kiddo who loves toy cars? Let’s take our toy car for a cruise down “Shape Street”! The first shape on Shape Street is a triangle. We’ll need to drive our car along the sides of the triangle in order to get to our next destination: the circle! How many shapes can you trace on Shape Street?
“Shape Street” provides opportunities to address these objectives:
- Improve shape identification and discrimination
- Increase spatial awareness
- Improve fine motor skills
As children progress, advance from tracing the shape with a toy car (or finger, or other object) to instead tracing the shape with a writing object, and when appropriate, drawing the shape without a visual model.
