I wanted to write a fun new hello song, and even before I sat down to brainstorm, Billy Joel’s classic “For the Longest Time” popped into my head. I knew it wouldn’t be too hard to write some original lyrics set to this melody, so I got to work…and I’m so excited about the finished product!
I wanted the recording to have a similar vibe to the original, but in practice, I will accompany myself simply with the guitar or ukulele. This is one of those songs my kids will surely love, but their parents will probably appreciate even more for the throwback reference.
