I think part of the reason the lollipop drum is so darn popular amongst children (and adults, for that matter) is because of its visual appeal. After all, it’s hard to resist playing an instrument that looks like a big piece of candy.
I wrote The Lollipop Bop to address several goals in music therapy, including hand-eye coordination, grasp, playing a steady beat, following directions, and fine motor control. Isn’t it cool how you can work on so many skills while playing and singing such a fun song?
